I own a 96 jeep cherokee, last week i was getting some weird voltage drops sometimes when i throttled the engine, the car was also throwing a generator error light at the dash.
I thought it might be the alternator so i went out with a voltmeter and tested the connection between the negative terminal on the battery and the positive connection on the alternator and when i throttled the engine sometimes it dropped to zero.
I took off the alternator after that and got it tested and it tested good which makes sense because its only a few months old and its been working find, so now im wondering what i should check next?
as far as i can tell the serpentine belt was good and the tension wasnt too loose, i didnt see any wires that were loose or missing insulation, and my battery tested good according to my voltmeter. that doesnt mean i didnt miss anything though so im replacing the belt and gonna go back and check the wires again. is there anything im missing?
