VOIP software for N80 (non-ie)?

Does anyone know of any functional VOIP software for the N80? I am finding stuff that seems to require the N80ie (e.g. gizmo), and even a product for S60v2 (fring), but the only thing I have found so far is the tiviphone.

Any other contenders?

Also, anyone know the scoop on if Nokia is going to offer a NSU update to N80ie?

Please allow me to introduce myself; my name is Roy and i am on the fring team.

As you said currently you can get from our site only S60v2. Yet, we are in the last mile to certify our S60v3 edition (which is designed for your N80).

Please give us few more days to QA and we will make it available. i hope you will give it a try and also share with us your feedback (which is very important for us)

A question about fring, if you are watching this forum: Does fring work like iSkoot, which actually uses the GSM system to make a call to a regional number? Or is it purely with the WiFi? Is it functional with EDGE?

Hi anville,

Diffrent to iSkoot, we use only the data connection of your handset (3G, EDGE or WiFi). we don't use nor consume any air-time on your account (pure data).

(we are actually running pure IP in P2P mode). This is also why we are able to provide 'chat' and presence in real -time.

the next version will also do seamless roaming between networks (3G to Wi-Fi and back to 3G, and so on)

We have released few hours ago the a brand new version for S60v9 handset, signed by Nokia for N80 and N80i.
More S60v9 handsets are just around the corner?.

Hi praz,

The last thing i want is to BS any of you guys. We have the N73 version fully working on our dev platform, yet we need the Nokia sign-off (part of the S60v9 process). We hope (strongly) to get it next week or the week after.

Yet, as it is not up to us at this stage, we can't commit

Thanks for making us on the series 60 forums here a part of the discussion... speaking from past experience, we've always enjoyed having developers in such close contact... we use the phones more than most people do (and in more 'power user' situations), so it's a plus for your company that you're here talking to the 'regular folks' .

I can't even start explaining how imperative and valuable this type of first-hand interaction with actual users is cherished by us. Having you guys provide first hand input (good and bad). Identifying issues and bugs, and also suggestions for improvements and features; is what I believe will help us develop better products

On the E61 it installes fine, complaining about being possibly incompatible, but i tried my luck, after that the fring startup scrren pops up ask me for a nick and a password, i enter both and after it hangs with the fring start screen again. No problem for me cause i don't got my unlimited data plan yet, but E61 may want to use fring too
