Voice Mail Harassment?

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this. I have a verizon cell phone. Yesterday I recieved a voice mail that was very disturbing. When I checked my call log for missed calls it did not have any call listed for that time, no restricted calls, no nothing. I called verizon and they told me that someone must have sent this call directly to my voice mail from there phone. There is aparently some kind of downlaod you can put on certain phones to call someone's voice mail directly and it does not leave a trace as to what number it sent the call from.

I have made a repot with the local police and they want to help me (because I work there in a non official capacity), I don't think any of them know how this technology works. It is a small counrty department.

So do any of you know how they did this to me? Also does anyone know how to find out what phone number this was sent to me from?

I am worried it might be my x-husband putting someone up to this. I used to have an order of protection against him. If it's connected to him I need to know. I guess I will just have to sit back and wait for another call, and watch my back.

Thanks

Im pretty sure theres a way to do it with phones... sometimes ive had calls go straight to voice mail and the person told me they called and there were no missed calls. Sometimes that happens when you lose signal. Its like having your phone turned off.

There is no specific thing needed to download to do this from Verizon Wireless...it's rather simply actually.

You can do it right from your Verizon cell phone, too! Call *86 from the device. Enter your passcode. Then press option 2. It will ask for a group distribution list # or a mailbox #. Mailbox # basically is just the other person's cell phone #. Now enter some else's cell phone number and press #...then record your message and press # again.

It will then send your message straight to their voicemail. It should say; however, who it is coming from UNLESS the person chose to send the message as private, which is an available option (prior to sending it).

As far as tracing it, the person who did this (if they marked it private) didn't leave ANY type of trail. It is completely impossible to track, if they chose private.

Keep in mind, people can only do this from one Verizon phone to another Verizon phone, so they HAD to have a Verizon phone.

Unfortuneately, the police department and Verizon will be helpless to you.

If this occurs again, change your cell phone # OR get an indirect cell phone mailbox like YouMail...as they won't be able to leave a message for you without calling you.
