I was reading the ingredients of these waters and noticed the word "acid" come up, as in almost every other word. Some of these waters, I even taste their acidity.

I'm assuming it is bad for those with acid reflux, however all in moderation has been my philosophy. But, are they benificial in any way to consume let's say a bottle or two a week?

I use to drink propel and loved it but thats when my gerd started! I think it has lots of acid.. I don't drink it anymore.

Hmmm, that's a good question. I drink Propel almost daily and have daily heartburn. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it. I did drink just water for a little while and still had heartburn so I think my heartburn is from anything really.

As all our bodies are different and different things affect everybody differently,I just want to say that I have been drinking Propel for a year, mostly in the summer when the weather is hotter. I drink 2 sometimes 3 bottles a day. I have had acid reflux since 1981, and the propel does not give me acid reflux at all.

Actually Propel is the one I'm talking about! Isn't it very acidic? I have to mix it with other juices to really drink it. I bought a case of it and it wasn't the smartest thing to do - so I definately can't through it away.

Isn't it acidic in your throat once it goes down? I just want to know if it contributes to acid reflx, which was what I was trying to ask with my question above....and if so, does it cause acid reflux in the long-run?

Answering CandP, you may well be developing esophageal
strictures. My ladylove has had that problem for years and
it reaches a point where she cannot swallow a pill with water.
So she has periodic esophageal dilatations to expand the part
that is narrowed. She also has GERD and gastroparesis as
part of a major gastro problem and is at the Mayo Clinic at
this time trying to ghet to the bottom of it. Seems the acid
reflux has scarred and damaged the sphincter muscle that
separates stomach from esophagus. She has seen a series
of specialists who cannot seem to help her. I hope you do
not have such a condition develop. :(

It is pretty acidic tasting. I've been drinking it for so long, I guess I got used to the taste. I wonder if it does contribute to my acid reflux...I'm really not sure. It might, but I have heartburn from anything. Did you find that is contributed to your heartburn?

Actually, I don't have heartburn. On occassion, I do feel dry throat after eating things like breaRABticks and maybe spicy things. However, what I have been suffering from about 4 years now is the feeling of sometihing being lodged or stuck in my throat. It went from me laughing and choking on a hotdog one day, to choking on a piece of steak a week after, to chips a couple weeks after that, and now I am avoiding a lot of fooRAB! I had a barium test and it did not show anything, but I just feel like sometimes food slips away or I don't chew it enough and feel like it's stuck! I have no idea if this is acid reflux or another problem, it really come on SO suddenly. I never had problems before. So I don't want to increase acid intake, if I do have acid reflux. But could it also be a fear of choking I've developed? I don't know, i'm so erabarassed now because people i'm starting to think i;m a pcky eater and i'm not! I'm just scared of choking!!

Sorry to hear that. I hope things get better for her. As for me, the doctor never mentioned to me about it being a serious condition - after the barium swallow came out normal, he never asked for further tests.
I really dont know how much of it is fear, or anything else. At times, I too, have difficulty with large pills as well but large pills only. I think it is because I tense in the throat during that time. I really dont know what else to do but chew slowly, small bites, and eat soft-textured fooRAB. I'm so afraid of eating fooRAB I used to love like sandwhiches and gyros. I'm just too afraid at this point.

Her's is large pills only also. She actually grinRAB large pills and
places the powder in smaller capsules. She told me today over
the phone that they did a video study of her swallowing with
water only and then a large pill and then more water to wash
it down. She was able to watch the pill get stuck in her lower
esophagus and the water flowing around the pill. Food for
thought-HA!! :(
