vista + games... whats your take so far?

ive been running vista for ~10 days.... installed BF2 with the 1.41 patch last night.

game ran pretty shitty. map load times were cut down to 1/3 of the time it took to load up when running XP Pro, but game play is horrible.

just curious to see how the rest of you and your games are holding up.



btw, running a p4 3.4 + 2gb ram + 6800gt... didnt mess with video settings too much, only because i didnt have to when running XP (and the game ran pretty seamless)

its blocked for me at work but i think this is the guide i used for both xp and vista to get better performance.
 
curious... how much memory do you have installed.. On XP I had 1 GB installed then jumped to 4 GB last night b/c I'm installing Vista this weekend. I could not believe how fucking fast BF2 maps loaded when I had the 4 GB in... I pray this is the same for Vista. I use to wait so long for the maps to load, but damn with the 4 GB it is truly unbelievably fast...

So maybe b/c Vista is a memory hog you could use some more??

the maps loaded up in 1/3 the time they did on XP -- and yes im using the vista beta drivers for the nvidia card.

im going to step it up to 4gb and get a WD Raptor soon;

ill have to play around with it more though, i just haven't had the time to dick with it
 
I have had the same exp as you

I loaded up vista, and played BF2...loaded fine, didn't seem much faster, but the game would randomly chop, every 25-30 seconds...drove me nuts

it did feel smoother though in terms of FPS I must say

back to XP I went...I doubt it's a video driver issue since the FPS weren't the problem, it was the random freezeups that caused me frustration
