Every holiday, Spike has an advertisement for a James Bond marathon, but VIP is run instead. Is it just because it is shown in Canada, or does the US have VIP run as a marathon as well?

Satellite is right, Spike doesn't buy the Canadian rights for those James Bond Movies. I imagine that the Movies rights are expensive enough just for the US rights...
It is interesting to draw a parallel between these distribution rights and the similar distribution rights the US and Canadian satellite companies have to broadcast their signals only to clients intheir own countries. This is the real reason that it is illegal to watch American Sat companies in Canada, and the reverse is also true...
Snowbirds who travel down to the US for the winter (wimps!) also break international laws when they watch Canadian Sat signals south of the border!
