could any one tell me several the important events in directing the course of western civilization. for example, like the defeat of the spanish armada..
also. can the Crusade be regared as such an event ?

any of the various greek battles with the persians would be first and foremost, the battle of tours with charles martel when they defeated the arabs in france, the defense of byzantium while rome was collapsing, the defeat of japan in WWII, the colonization of the new world aka america which as we can see now had a profound impact on the world, there are probably tons more too that i cant think of
