Video cassette stuck BACKWARDS in vcr!?

My daughter just put a video cassette into my televideo and now I cant get it out. The front of the cassette - th part where the tape is under the flap is sticking out of the vcr. It doesnt go in or out and is just sticking out of the vcr. Ive tried forcing it in desparation, although I realise thats the worst thing to do.
How do u think I can get it out without damaging the vcr? Not too bothered about the cassette.
BLAH! I know, I do have a dvd player but all my old home movies etc are on video.
