Video and Sound not detected on my PC, I formatted my PC from Windows Media to XP...

...professional using a OEM.? I had some bad viruses on an older model Compaq Presario SR2000. So I used a Windows Xp Professional Corporate Edition. And formatted my disc that contained an integrated video card. Radeon Express 200, now my PC runs fine but is in operable in the sound and video area. I tried reinstalling the yellow question marks in the device manager indicating the Radeon drivers but nothing is detected. Has anyone ever been in this predicament? I Googled troubleshooting solutions but I keep running into driver doctor web site. Should I trust any of these 3rd party sites? Or should I just buy a individual video card and start over? Please someone help this computer enthusiast learn a little more in the PC world. Thanks,
