Last week our cat appeared to have an allergic reaction to something. One side of her face swelled quickly. The vet gave her a steroid shot. The swelling cleared up within 24 hours. Then the other side of her face began to swell. This was about 36 hours after the shot. Vet gave her another steroid (prednisone) shot that was supposed to be longer lasting. Ever since that shot she's been acting crazy. Hiding, not interested in contact at all. Also, about 36 hours (Friday night) after the second shot she was scratching and grooming like she itched terribly, but seemed a more social than the night before. Saturday she didn't see to be scratching anymore. But she's totally hiding will only come out to eat/drink or use litter. So, she is still eating and drinking, however she did get sick this a.m. I'll be calling the vet tomorrow, but just wondered if there's any known reactions to prednisone that would cause her to go crazy. She's old (20 years)and on a transdermal thyroid medicine too. I'm pretty convinced that this is the end for the old girl, just hoping that there's some off chance that it's a bad reaction to the medicine. Any ideas?
