Very visible palm veins?

A few days ago I noticed that the smaller veins (especially the ones in the palms of my hands and my arms), have become visible.. I can actually see them going from my palm all the way up into my fingers.. They are a dark blue / purpleish color. They were not visible before.. Also the big veins in my arms, hands, and feet seem to be more visible and larger now as well. I was wondering if anyone might know what could be causing this? Could it be anything serious? The doctor told me a couple weeks ago that my Hemoglobin and Hematocrit levels were a bit high, if that could have anything to do with it.. Any advice would be appreciated.
