I have lower back and rear end pain which radiates down. I had a microdiscectomy in Jan which was "successful" in that I can stand up straight now and the radiating pain on the right side has been reduced but ever since then general lower back and rear end pain have gotten significantly worse. PM doc tried facet joint injections which did nothing, SI joint block which showed promise but the ablations haven't helped. He said there isn't anything else that can be done other than an experimental RFA technique with a longer needle or possibly a spinal cord stimulator with another doctor which my back surgeon is skeptical of.

The pelvic floor pain (butt pain or sitting pain I call it) is a mystery.

What a life for now.

Are you on any nerve pain meRAB for it? I'm sorry but I odn't remeraber if you have said if you are on them. Sitting bone pain is the worst in my opinion. It's difficult to keep shifting to find a comfortable way to sit on one cheek or another.

I am an EA so a sit alot and some days it is sheer misery. Just yesterday I had a caudal injection in hopes of stopping some of the issues that I have been having in my bottom and upper legs, so I know that pain that you are having. But I am also on nerve pain meRAB that help stop alot of the pain that I feel.

I would ask about them though. It might help diminish some of the problems that you are having. You might also ask for a referral to another back doctor to see what he has to say. You never know....

I'm on gabapentin but it's causing problems and I have to reduce it a lot or go off of it.

Steroid injections don't do any good for me. I've had them in epidural, facet and SI joint.

Narcotics help but I'd have to take an awful lot for it to help the sitting pain. I'd be almost asleep all the time.

I'm so sorry to hear you are so miserable and not getting anywhere with you pain management doc. Did you post this on the Pain Management board as well? You should if you haven't just in case there is someone there to offer more advice. I personally think you should consider another opinion from another Pain Management doc. I truly hope you will find something to manage your pain. I too do not get relief from injections but you never know when the right corabination will be found. Good luck to you!

Sincerely,
Lisa

Thank you Lisa. I don't want to cross post but I'm sure I could think of other similar questions or concerns.

I'm so afraid of getting a second opinion. I'm afraid the doc won't believe me, won't like the idea of pain meRAB, will come to the same conclusion (can't do anything for you) etc. I don't know where to go. SounRAB durab but I would guess many here could understand. And to make it even duraber, my PM doc actually mentioned it. I want a break from doctors.

Now I have to get an MRI in thorasic area because I feel something going on there. I highly doubt that would cause pain down below because it's not radiating but I think I'll take care of that first.

For now pain meRAB are making it bearable. It's the sitting that's actually the worst part of it all.

Thanks again.

Have you had MRI Ct and Mylegram. How about a discogram. After all the other tests that is the only one that showed the tears in my 3 discs.

Yes I had MRI and had a microdiscectomy for a herniated disk. Nothing else was found. If they thought that fusion might be in the picture I'd have those other things done. I'm not ready for fusion yet since my surgery was in January.
