Very concerned

Back in mid November I started getting what I initially believed were palpitations but after having ECG that was fine, but I have been getting this twitching feeling at seemingly random locations over my body since then and it's getting worse as time goes on so could well be some type of muscle spasm. I am also getting moderately severe burps/hiccups every time I eat or drink anything and have quiet a bit of gas at both ends. I also have what I think I best describe as a "brain fog" and many of my muscles seem to have become weak. I am chroniclly tired all the time and keep getting a dry mouth. I have had various blood tests done and all are normal so not diabetes. The alarming thing is though that symptoms are getting progessively worse and every time I go and see the doctor I just get sent away. I've also been into the ER twice and sent away getting told there's nothing wrong with me. For all I know it could be ALS, MS, a perforated stomach/bowel, cancer or candida overgrowth but is seems no-one is interested in investigating further. It's also stressing me out as I'm 27 and really don't want to die at this age.

Have you seen a rheumatologist? It sounds like that would be the next step if you haven't. Dry mouth can be caused by several factors, such as medications, but it could also be caused by Sjogren's syndrome(where the body sees the salivary glands as enemies and attacks them, causing dry mouth, fatigue, among other symptoms), so the rheumatologist can test you for that along with other possible causes.

That's something the OP probably doesn't want to hear right now. I'm sure they have been told many times before that they might be one. It is usually the case when people keep going to see the doctor only for them to tell them there's nothing wrong with them. It's been happening to me for years. I feel even worse just lately and I think if doctors and other people stopped giving people the old 'hypochondriac' retort a lot of people could actually get the help they needed rather than spiralling into a worse state of ill health. Yes, there are hypochondriacs out there but there are actually people I know who have DIED because of this.

A woman I knew (albeit not that well) kept saying she felt ill for years and no one believed her because they thought she was a hypochondriac. She was very vocal with her symptoms and that's because she was in a lot of pain. This went on for years and years. One day, her symptoms took a drastic turn for the worse. She went into hospital, had tests, and got diagnosed with late stage cancer. She died three weeks later. She'd had it for years but people and doctors instead decided to label her as a hypochondriac.

To the OP:

You're very right to be concerned. It sounds serious but some diseases that aren't life-theatening or even that dangerous, can have some really undesirable symptoms. Go back to your doctor, demand blood tests and any other tests. Make him listen to you. Make him sympathise with you. That's my problem. The doctors don't listen to me because I'm not very vocal or demanding. This needs to change. I really hope that you eventually get some answers and some help. I wish you all the best. And I'm sorry if the above story scared you. It's a worse case scenario and one that probably happens rarely.
