Verizon Wireless, Upgrading my phone?

Okay So I just upgraded my phone online
and it is shipping today, so I will get it by tomorrow or something.
So I have a question..

When I get my phone. Can I just use it right there? without activating or anything?

Or do I have to go to the Verizon store with That phone to activate it in order to use that phone?

Please someone answer me!
 
it will have activation instructions with it when you receive the phone in the mail, I just did this too... just follow instructions..also if your still using "the old phone you have to be off the old phone and the new phone meaning you will need to use a land line or borrow a friends cell to activate..
