Verizon Wireless Phone Upgrade?

ok so im not like all those other people out their who use fuck my life but this is ridiculous. So the other day my phone wasn't working so i was gonna take it to verizon to replace it but i didn't have time so i was gonna go first thing in the morning. BUT last night i put my phone on a table and water fell out of an umbrella and went all in my phone and i didn't realize until an hour later and doesn't verizon not replace water damage? well anyway now that my phone is broken, will verizon replace it? or will the push my upgrade from december 'til today? i am a "VIP" customer at verzion whatever the hell that means but will being one affect the outcome
