verizon smart phone question!?

ok, so i want a smart phone. but my dad found out that the smart phone plan obviously costs more, so he slammed the door on the whole smart phone thing. so i got the env3. i love the phone but i want the palm pre plus when it comes to verizon on the 27th of this month. when i was on t-mobile, i could obviously take out my sim cart, put it in a blackberry for example, and it would work, if i take my phone in and pay the 10 dollar data transfer fee to verizon, will they put me on the phone and leave me on my plan?
 
The Palm Pre Plus is a smart phone and will require the $30/month data plan. Unless you've found a way to get your father to agree to the data plan, you're out of luck.

You don't seem to understand that Verizon requires the data plan to use a smart phone on its network. It's not just a contractual thing. Regardless of where you purchase it or whether you pay full price, the data plan is mandatory.
