Verizon plan question?

so my contract ends this summer, and i was thinkin about gettin a new phone

i know that sometimes they offer you a free phone after your 2 year plan is up,

but my question is, would it cost me anything to my plan if i bought a new phone from the site?

i currently have an lg env3, and if i were to go and buy the casio brigade, would they charge me for switching phones early? or would i only have to pay for the new phone itself and transfer my number?

but any help would be appreciated
