Verizon phone -contract isn't over until March but phone is dead and warranty...

...long gone, what should I do? For the past several months, I had to wiggle the charger to get the phone to charge, then the past few weeks I have had to pull the charger way over to the side and duct tape it in place to charge it. Now, I've had it supposedly charging (says it's charging, bars moving like usual when charging) on and off for a few days, but when I unplug it the bars keep going lower and lower. I have one bar left and would like to get all my contacts, etc. off of it before it dies but the problem is that I'm on a family share plan and the owner is a truck driver who is out of state for the next month. I called Verizon and they said they would only deal with the owner of the plan. Can I just pay them for a new phone? I don't know what to do -is there a way to save my info before this phone dies for good? Has anyone had any experience with this? Thank you for your time.
