Verizon broken phone policy?

My son is down at school and the tab that keeps the battery in on his EnV phone is broken. The phone now only works intermittently. It is only a few months old. Can he get a no charge replacement or is there some sort of wear and tear liability? Can he get it replaced with a refurb at the store or does this have to be shipped?

Do you have insurance on the acct? That is the best way to replace the unit.
If not, have him go to the local Verizon store by school and arrange to have it inspected and repaired, or replaced. He will have to be added to your account as an authorized user.
Then the clerk in the store will make the necessary repairs. You could be eligible for a replacement unit under the 2 years program they have to replace phones. Remember, your contract will be extended as well. If the phone replacement is near the 2 year goal, you or the kid will have to call
