Verizon Blitz... help!!?

I recently had to start using my other phone because i broke my other one, so now I have to use my old verizon blitz. The battery died, I plugged it in, and was using it as it was charging. Then all of a sudden the screen went black. I plugged in the phone again and then it said battery charging and this has been the case for over 5 hours. It wont let me use it. The keys light up, but the screen only lights up when it says that its charging. What do i do?? I cant get another phone until january, and I'm a teenager so my parents arent going to buy me another phone until then. Can somebody pleasssee help me?!?! thanks
