verizon blackberry...?

so im buying a blackberry from a friend can i active it by calling *228 from my phone and avoid paying 30 dollars extra a month for internet and if i can does it connect to the internet automaticly and ring up a big bill
blackberry pearl for verizon if that even plays a factor
 
No- the data plan will automatically go on your line when you activate it. And actually, I'd recommend going into a store to do it, because if you try to do it, it might add the corporate email/internet package instead of the regular one, which is 45 instead of 30...
