The key phrase here may be, "... unless you find a friendly CSR who lets you slide." Verizon has its contract guidelines and policies, but they still want your business, and most of the money they make is thru payments of your monthly bill, not on the phone. Since you're only a couple of weeks past the cutoff, a friendly rep may be able to bend the rules a little. In a similar situation, I bought a Jabra BT3030 bluetooth headset at my VZW store. The headset had a 30-day return policy, even though it had a one-year warranty. After about six weeks, the unit started to malfunction, so yesterday I took it back to the store. Now it was still well within the warranty period, and I ended up having them replace it. Before getting the replacement, however, I asked the CSR if I would have the option of trading up to a more expensive bluetooth headphone set. She said probably not because a trade-up like that would have to take place within the 30-day period. However, she checked and found that because (like your situation) I was only a couple of weeks beyond the deadline, they would be able to allow me to get the more expensive unit if I wanted to. It never hurts to ask.
