VCR Settup , LG LV880?

New Lg VCR LV880 .I cannot record although settup has been retried several times . During installation it does not seem to identify the stations correctly , it finds 5 which are quite blurry ( snow effect ) then the same 5 but perfect signal .I have a digibox in line and have tried the cables in both the configurations shown in the manual for the vcr .It plays videos faultlessly with a very clear picture .Any help appreciated .
