I stained and varnished my fish tank ages ago. We struggled to get the water right for months before realizing the hood (or the stain/varnish) was the problem. Since removing the hood our water is right on target but the tank looks unsightly without it.
I plan to sand it back and just varnish it but I have no idea what type of varnish would be suitable for the tank? Surely there's an aquarium safe option?
Something I can access here in Australia without too much trouble, preferrably!
