Just wanted to say hello from Sunny Arizona. I am new to this forum and wanted to ask a question. Has anyone installed a set of Vance and Hines Classic ll mufflers on a 2006 S83? I have been told by Vance and Hines tech. staff that an interference condition exists with the left muffler clamp bolts and the rear tire. Vance and Hines has no plans to make another configuration of the Classic ll muffler that will fit. I was told the 2005 S83 also had the same interference problem. Thanks for any help.

I contacted Vance & Hines about pipes for my 2005 S83. They want to provide them, but they said that they haven't got ahold of a S83 for fit-testing. Here is an email from Wendy at Vance & Hines concerning this.......

Hi Kenny,

Wendy here from Vance & Hines looking for a S83 for fit checks in the Los Angeles or Orange County area please have them contact me at 800-592-2529 or
562-921-7461. Or they can email me at [email protected]

Thanks for all your help.

Someone asked me if there was any incentive for someone to let VAnce & Hines use their bike for fit testing. I contacted Wendy with the question. Here is her reply...

Kenny,

When we borrow a customers bike they always get a free set of pipes. And we also tune their bike for them. We do a photo shoot & will put their bike in next years catalog too.

Thanks...........Wendy

I put the Classic II on my S50 which is very much the same bike. The instructions say to put the bracket on the inside of the battery box on the left side on the outside on the right. If you do this you have a quarter inch clearence to the tire. I put mine on the out side and no problem. I had tried it the way they said to and they were not spaced even, left one closer to the tire. Now they are even. They sound great you will love them.

I've heard V&H are good pipes and sound but it seems they are a little more difficult to install. As opposed to Slip On Cobra's, would you still go with the V&H?

I have a S50 too and I want to add slip ons for a better sound. I am looking at V&H after seeing this post but my first choice was Cobra.
