Got into a car accident today at 25MPH. Mostly my tire was impacted, but it broke the steering box and probably a few other expensive items. It was the other driver's fault, and there were no injuries.
So I expect an insurance adjuster to come out and tell me my truck is only worth so much. Kelly Blue Book (and others) only go back 20 years. I can't figure out on my own what the vehicle is worth, and I don't want to get screwed.
It's a 1986 Toyota 4Runner, not an SR5, just the regular 2.2L engine. I had the engine replaced about six years ago, and recently got new tires. It was in good mechanical condition, and I even had the AC converted. It had a custom paint job about 10 years ago, but it's a truck and not too pretty on the inside.
So the question is: What's the approximate worth? Also, any other advice on dealing with insurance adjusters is appreciated.
