Do you still have your e71 to try this out?

I was just curious if the BT car fix would be helpful to you (mainly if it gets corrected on the e72 v4 whenever that comes out)...

The wife is using the E71 on v410. No real need to update for her usage. The E72 has had less issue with BT after the last reset but still looking for v4x to drop soon.

i am trying the e72 again with the current firmware, but the e71 is riding around in the computer case as the backup. will not get caught again with just a single phone...at least with nokia e-series...

Saw that last night.

That site is utterly useless. Unfortunately it's usually down or it shows the wrong version available until enough people phone in and then it goes down again.

You much better off following updates around this site because somebody here will find an official changelog from a source more accurate than Nokia's own update website...

I use it to keep an eye on what versions have been added or removed for the 0569371 product code. When version 410 was available I should have updated mine from v200 and my brother's from v100.

oh yay, i found the thread - didn't know it was here. sorry i've been posting in the v410 thread!

i skipped v410 and went straight from v400 to v500. one BIG improvement is my camera blue tint (when flash is used) is FINALLY GONE!! i cannot believe it since some people reported it being fixed in v300 or v400, and mine remained.

i feel like i'm getting less reception now, however. it doesn't happen everywhere, but while v400 fixed reception a bit from previous versions, i feel like v500 brought it back. i still get reception but it jumps around a lot more, and is more often without bars (with v400 i had a single bar a lot more of the time).

lotus notes traveler is great! especially since my company recently decided to adopt it along with BES. now i can laugh at all those people paying $30-$50 for BES while i pay 5.99 for tzones and can still access the same email!

i see improvement in the web browser - it's definitely faster. and i love that there's office 2007 support now - that paired with my new ability to get to my work email means i can actually do work stuff when i'm away from the office now. definitely an awesome feature to have.

May have to check this out. None of the firmware updates ever touched the tint in my E71 camera.

Office 2007 support was always a Quickoffice update away. All E-series devices can update to Quickoffice 6.2 to support Office 2007 docs. Most people may not realize this. It's one of the first updates I do on a fresh updates.

I didn't know this! Nor did I read that in any firmware threads... man, I could have had Office 2007 awhile ago!

Is your E71 a 0569371 turned 0559585? You may have the same product batch as mine if so... try out v500! I seriously can't believe my camera tint is fixed... it's been so long! It has problems focusing in the dark kuz the flash is too bright so the picture tends to come out washed out, but that's sooo much better than the blue tint any day.

There was a thread some time ago when Quickoffice made an announcement that any E-series device that came loaded with a full version of Quickoffice could update to the latest full version for free.

Yes, mine is a 0569371 changed to 0559585. I don't know when the last time was I actually ran 0569371 specific firmware.

Anyone care to comment about the Music Player upgrade?
I wonder what it entails. I dream of support for play counts and all sorts of fancy improvements. But realistically I wonder what it is.

updated my e66 to 500, I dont see any difference, but it is much faster then again my v400 was trashed and constantly crashing.

ps
i can still install unsigned apps without using hellox, it was pre hacked

Maps 3.03 Lite which has Free Navigation support
? Music Player upgrade
both looks the same

opened up ovi store and prompted to update to 1.07 -_-

Had to use Navifirm and Phoenix to upgrade, Ovi wouldn't recognize that there was an update.

I must say, this is the first time that the back up and restore in ovi suite did a pretty good job of putting most of my settings back in place. Themes, settings and nokia applications were all reinstalled, didn't have to set up email again which was nice. APN's and wifi access points were put back exactly how they were before the update. Hellox reinstalled fine, so unsigned apps shouldn't be a problem.

Music player looks exactly the same. Photos taken in good lighting looks good, but in the dark, even with the flash is very purple.

It is running much faster than before, but I had installed a lot of crap before that I couldn't fully get rid of.

I hate to point out the obvious, which also happens to be negative. I have enough experience with S60 to know that FW always make the phone faster. It would be the same if you did a clean restore. In 2-4 weeks or less it will go right back to crashing/freezing etc. But hey Nokia should release a FW update every 2 weeks just to get people to restore every 2 weeks. It would keep the phones running tip top condition.

ugh, the ability to press call and then loudspeaker immediately has been replaced with "end call" then loudspeaker.

Strange change, that was one of the major reasons I changed my PC to go to 210.

Sigh nokia...why. :crying:
