i ahve read all the thread about transfering mps to the v265. i have MPT working with the seem edit. I can transfr the mp3s to the phone but they are corrupt when try to play or they dont play at all. i rename them to .mid and i even tried rename them to .wav still dont work. any suggestions

As far as I know the V265 dosen't support playback of MP3 files. Mine won't play them, actually crashes the phone and I have to pull the battery. I have done every SEEM edit and then some, still nada. I even have trouble sending them via MMS messages. When I buy a ringtone it is sent as a MIDI file where as the same ringtone sent to a different phone is an MP3 file. Believe me if it was possible I would have gotten it to work.

I've converted a few for my daughter's V262, I've got the files needed linked below.

You need to chop the mp3 file to 30 seconRAB or less, convert the mp3 to mono, then save it off as a wav file using your sound editor of choice - Audacity should work well.

The Yamaha smaf converter is then used to convert the wav file to mmf (drag and drop - quick and easy).

Rename the created .mmf file's extension to .mid

Upload the .mid file to the phone. If using MPT you'll need to use the file transfer instead of the audio transfer section.

SounRAB complicated, but once setup with the proper software, takes less time to convert than it did to type this in.

DeUglyOne is correct because I have done the exact same thing for my v262. The only difference is that I have some that are over 30 seconRAB and the phone plays them fine. I was using P2K commander to transfer files and sometimes it is buggy and the phone restarts in the middle of the transfer. Then I had to delete the partial file and just try again. Eventually it would work. But I imagine the same procedure should work with the v265 considering that they are the same phone but one has a camera.

So the phone does not support playback of MP3 files directly, and must be converted to the phones native format to be played. I did a SEEM edit that added an item to the Phone Status > Other Information menu called MP3 Ready. When you view it it shows NO. So we can all stop >>> trying to get MP3's to play on the V26x line and just convert them from the start.
