V&H Power Duals vs. V&H Dresser Duals, 2010 Limited

Can someone compare these two for me? I have 4" Rinehart slipons.
Do the Power Duals produce the same sound effect as having the cat in place. I like loud, but I don't want to lose any power. I feel the difference between my 103 and a 96, and I don't want to lose that if putting Dresser Duals on will have that effect. Will I get more sound with the Power Duals than with the cat. or will I be back where I started?

No they do not sound the same as the cat in place

Power Duals being 2-1-2 pipes have a better power curve than dresser duals being 2 into 2 pipes.

They both will be louder and produce a deeper tone
Here is a video of mine with Power Duals and BUB Boom Cans No Cat

Sound, I'd say they're pretty close. Both are louder than stock. Performance, the Power Duals win.
Heat reduction, the Dresser Duals win.
It all depends what you're looking for.

Personally, I picked heat reduction. If I roast on the bike, it doesn't matter how it sounds or how hard it pushes, I won't enjoy it and my GF won't ride at all.
Performance is easy to fix. You add cams to your bike and you'll get much more HP and torque than what the Power Duals will ever bring.

I know a lot of guys have commented on the heat issue with the cat and now you mention with the power duals. I really can't say that it's been that much of an issue for me, maybe because I don't do a lot of really long distance riding, but when I'm out on day trips, I'm really not that aware of it.

You're lucky. Driving in the city or being caught in a traffic jam was a nightmare for me. Now, it's much better and I don't dread it anymore.
By the way, I have an 09 with no cat but the stock headers were a friggin' furnace. 2-1-2 design traps the heat in the collector and that's not good. 2-2 flows much better, but you lose a little bit of torque at low range. Something I'll fix with 255 cams this winter.

In that respect I have to agree with you, heat tolerant or not, Harleys are hot, I've been in some beach traffic jams where I thought I would melt away, anything you can do to make them cooler, is a good thing, thanks for your input, ride safe!

Thanks, and regardless what headers you pick, considering running richer than stock. I have a PCV on my bike and a richer map makes a difference heat wise. Synthetic oil vs. dyno helps too. I also have an oil cooler but it doesn't help much when I'm stuck in traffic.
Ride safe too.

FWIW I started out with the power duels and monster ovals. Heat was still a major issue. I just got finished installing an ultra cool oil cooler and put dresser duels on. The heat on the right side is all but gone. My butt dyno has not noticed any power loss at all and IMO the bike sounds better, now that I can hear each cylinder sound off.

I have the power duals, sound is deep, not even close to the stock header, but I think the sound difference comes from the exhaust.

IMO, the 2-1-2 exhaust has the better power characteristics and the heat is much better than the stock head pipes. I do not get the furnace effect anymore when riding and its hot.
