Using Yahoo Mail and don't have option to "change status" for chatting?

Where Yahoo Mail says "Hi Ann", I have the option to SIGN OUT, WHAT'S NEW, or MAIL CLASSIC.
I want to be able to CHAT while I am using YAHOO MAIL, after going through all the Yahoo Mail help and tutorials, I am not able to do so.
Please help me?? :)
