using sky HD box with usb flash drive?

does anyone know if you can use your sky hd box to use to watch movies or that, that is stored on a usb flash drive, my hd box has a usb port and couldnt think what else it could be used for, but when i plug the flas drive things in nothing happens and i cant find the instruction manual to seee if that helps
 
The USB port on your Sky box will provide power but nothing else. Sky may use it in the future, but current versions of the software do not support it at all.
 
i asked my sky installation guy the same thing, he said it's to allow engineers to install software updates, nothing more..
