Hello Yahoo! Members. This a tech question. I currently have a launch Sony Playstation 3 60GB model (with all the bells and whistles) and I'm to the point that its time to upgrade my hard drive. I just purchased a 500GB internal hard drive for my system but now I ran into a dilemma. I want to back up my hard drive completely so I don't have to go back and re-download all the games I purchased since I've have the console. Also there are some copy-protected game saves that only can be backed up via backing up the entire hard drive on the system. That's my main priority.

I've seen a couple sites that sell these adapters that convert USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE for external media purposes. I was wondering if anyone has tested this on the PlayStation 3 as an external media source to save/back up files. I have 2 available internal HDD for a desktop PC that are empty (2x250gb). I wanted to use one to back up my data from the PS3.

If anyone has tried this please let me know if what I want to do is possible with this method and/or any suggestions for a particular adapter. Also if there is any you don't recommend I'd appreciate that also.

Thanks for your time. PLAY B3YOND.
