Using a foreign (canada) Sim Card with a Vodafone/02 network phone?

Im hoping to get a phone from the UK. It accepts sim cards, is unlocked and works with Vodafone and 02 networks. Anyone know if it would work in Canada with my Rogers SIM card? It has WIFI and not 3g also. The only thing Im worried about is if the frequency would work here..! please help!!
