Used reciever question?

Ok, I got my dish mounted and set up the account. I have 87-92% signal.
But it doesn't seem to be downloading the programing.
All my channels are coming up red saying I need sub. for them these I have subscribed to..
Could it be that the reciever last was hooked up in 2007? I bought it off ebay and the bell rep said it didn't matter.
so I phoned the next door neighbour and he said maybe I need a new card.
But I did get a card with the box.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I would guess that it is an old card, as a card swap was just completed late last year...
Call in and give them your card number, and they will easily be able to tell you if it is new or not.

If its got the new card and old firmware, it won't activate. You need to put in the old card, turn off the receiver, let it update and then put in the new card and call again.

If the Card # starts with S04, then it is the old Card. As i hate tv says, call Bell activate the receiver on your account, they will then ship you the new Card.

Just as a FYI, I purchased a used 9200 a while back and was told by a CSR at that time I would need a new card and it would cost me $100. However, last week when I finally got it in place( thanks Pinza) another CSR told me there would be no charge. Received the new card in 3 days and it is all good!!

A few elements are missing for us to give you a clear answer...

-Have you ever called BellTV to activate that receiver in your account?
*If you never did this is most probably the reason of your problem. It could have worked in the past whithout you calling them to activate it in your account cause you where receiving the owner's programming. Since then they might have cancelled their service, reason why you are no longer receiving the programming. To be able to transfer the receiver they will need the owner to have called them and mentionned he was selling his unit. If he didn't it would be impossible for you to activate it.
**Sounds to me that the receiver was never activated in YOUR account or that it has been deactivated on Bell's end since they never shipped you the new card**

-If you did call BellTV and the receiver was activated in your account...
*You have what CSR call a RED GUIDE ISSUE. Your receiver, after being disconnected for that long, lost the memory of the channels you suscribe to. The issue could usually be solve very quickly by calling a CSR who would send a HIT (reset) or by going on the bell.ca and SYNCRONIZE your programming. Unfortunatly at this time things are a little more complicated since there has been a card swap recently. I suppose that the card that was in the receiver is the yellow and blue one. If that's the case, BellTV should send you a card in the next few days after you recativated the unit FREE OF CHARGE. Once you receive the card your unit will be up and running. I don't think you will be able to do much with it before then

Channels in red are caused by one or more of:

1) old firmware. Many threads on how to update. You don't even need a card in the slot to take an update.

2) unsusbcribed. Although in your case you seem to imply it has been activated.

3) old card. Unless you have a N3 card you won't receive programming.

4) Activation received when the unit wasn't connected.

5) damaged receiver. Many units bought off ebay have been modified and and not properly restored to properly functioning units before being sold. Ensure the receiver number on the system info screen matches the label. Modifications can also cause the firmware to be locked at an old version.
