Used PC games and EB Games/GameStop?

I don't know if EB Games/GameStop still sells used PC games... I did purchase a few used PC games at one of them a long time ago, though I never played them so I haven't been able to figure it out myself. Since PC games have authentication and account security, what happens if the used PC game I purchase used won't let me create a new account to play with? For example, Tribes 2 would let you create one account for your copy and I can imagine there are some CD keys that are valid once. Or, what if the person who sold the game in kept using the cd key online and prevented the new purchaser from playing and/or disrupting gameplay since most games only allow one person online per time with a single cd key? Anyone know how EB Games/GameStop handles this? Or have they done away completely with used PC games?
