Used Mazda 3 or New 2009 Toyota Corolla?

I have to choose between two cars:

1. A Used 2007 Mazda 3 GS at about $13,000
2. A New 2009 Toyota Corolla CE at about $20,400

I want to finance at either 48 or 60 months.

Obviously, the Mazda is way cheaper, however, the resale value is not as good. It won't be worth very much in a few years.
The Toyota is more expensive, but it doesn't drive as fun as the Mazda.

Any pointers? My goal is to purchase a car this week!!

depending on the milage of the mazda i would personally choose that. Though I'm a teenage boy driver and i agree with you on the fun drive of it if the mazda has over 20k miles i would go with the Corolla (it prob gets better MPG)

That Corolla is way over priced and I believe 2008 was the last year they made the CE so you might want to check on that. 2009 has LE, S, XLE and XRS. The Mazda is priced right. The resale on the Mazda will actually be better than the Corolla because it's value has already depreciated. The value of the Toyota will drop $3-6,000 by next year, where the Mazda will be worth pretty much the exact same. I sell cars for a living so hopefully that lends some credibility to what I'm saying. Hope that helps. Go with the Mazda.

In Japan the Corolla is just a big laugh. Mazda makes better cars than Toyota. While I am at it, there is not an actual car named Lexus; Toyota just slapped that named on the Aristo and the Toyota Super Salon so they could rip off buyers in the US. A Texas company prepared the Lexus name for them, for about a hundred grand.
