Syrian rebels vowed to regroup and keep fighting as government forces launched a new bombardment of besieged Aleppo Friday amid an escalating flood of refugees to Turkey and Jordan.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported shelling in parts of the commercial capital Friday, as well as clashes between troops and rebels. The group said additional shelling was taking place in nearby provinces.
Journalists inside Aleppo said government forces were able to recapture some territory in the city Thursday, as many rebels pulled back farther north. The rebels admit they are running low on weapons and munitions but rebel commanders told reporters Friday they will continue fighting.
