US History Question!?

Think about the difference between the phrase "we the people" in the US Constitution, ad the Declaration of Independence's statement that each individual person has "certain unalienable Rights." Where is there tension in these ideas, how does that tension show up in Puritan America, and how might that tension impact you in 2009?

it already has as certain "individual" rights have been given weight over the rights of the "people as a whole". and example is like the atheist who doesn't want their child to pray in school. so rather than excuse the one from the "activity" they make it illegal for all to do. in this way the wants of the one out weight the rights of the many.
