New school year as a senior. US govt class is starting up our debates. Right now were doing 2 on 2, in this format- Pro team gives 2 minute opening. con team gives 2 minute rebuttal. con team gives 2 minute opening. pro team gives rebuttal.
I am supposed to argue FOR a change in the eight amendment, (the changed would be taking out the "no cruel or unusual punishment" part, and would be changed so that the judge can choose any punishment for a criminal, rather it be prison for a thief, or dismemberment for a rapist.) i need help/ideas for a good strong opening, that would prove my point, and get the debate on my side right away. any ideas?
