US Census Based Surveys?

I just had a US Census worker contact me for the CPS Survey (Employment/et al)

I was told that it was voluntary but when I asked that I be taken off --- They went on about getting data. When I asked how is the data gatherer or how was my residence selected. The lady talked down to me and told me that was too complicated to explain.

I wonder why anyone would provide information with these surveys. I spoke with one of my colleagues and she told me that funding is based on these Studies. She also told me that they are very biased. She is a Latina (born in Texas her father is from Spain and her mother's grandma was from Mexico.

She was told that she is European she found out that she does not qualify for "Latina or Hispanic" funding for school since her father is "European" If someone from Spain is not Hispanic what does the word mean?

She also noted that someone in this country from Chile or Argentina is "Hispanic" but someone from Brazil is European as far as the census is concerned.

Another lady told me that there are special funds for some Arabs or Middle Easterners, but get this Israelis are not from the Middle East per the census, for they are Europeans even if they can trace their family in Yemen for 500 years.

Should we not consider removing the race bias in the Census?

There is no longer a Constitutional reason for recording Blacks. Indians, yes, because they are not Constitutionally citizens of the US but member of their tribal nations.

Ought not the census just track people via the following:

Name, DOB, Place of Birth (Citizenship) and if they committed a Felony. The census was to apportion voting and the electoral college and to apportion federal spending via the population of each state. Alas, the XVI amendment (Income Tax) modified the spending.

But in the 21st century should we not just count people as living/dead citizen/guest voter/non-voter and be done with it?

I also suggest that no one (sane) answer these questions for the government. It is none of the government's business how much I earn, where I went to school, or if I have the Internet.
