Hi,
I deserted US Army 2 years ago, I was a permanent resident back then (Green Card holder), and after desertion I flew straight back home to Russia. I'm a Russian citizen. Theoretically, what if i decide to turn myself in? I mean, does the US Army really need me? If I turn myself in in Russia, they would have to fly me back to the US in order to court martial me right? And what will they do then? Put me to jail? For how long? And then what, let's say I serve the 18 months jail time? Not that I'm going to turn myself in, but just out of curiosity.
PS. To all haters --- I do not want to kill innocent civilians for any country, not for Uncle Sam, neither for Mother Russia.
I was a medic, supposedly not a combatant, as promised by the recruiter, but as I was told by other medics, Medics in Iraq do take part in combat, and DO Kill! And the last, I'm sure US army does not need a soldier like me, who is not loyal at all. So, actually they should thank me for leaving their rank.
