urgently need help!!! ideas for short story!!! 10 pointss!!?

for my english assingment i have to write a short story. the theme of my story is based on a guy who was a government official who is now a prisoner locked up at devils island. so basically in the 2 paragraphs it describes the cells, what he;s thinking. he is supposed to be hanged at 12 pm the following day. but.. i want to twist ending, something to create suspense for the reader. please help me think of an ending!
