I need to transfer files on-the-go from a disk-on-key to an SD card. Is there a 3rd party utility that will allow storage of ordinary files on the Palm TX drive, so that I can move them later to an SD card inserted onto the Palm ?
Any other solution ?
This is urgent please, I leave abroad in 2 days...

:^/ I'm unfamiliar with the Palm TX drive, but there are USB card readers for the PC. They'll allow files to be copied from PC to whatever card the reader is made for. Some allow several various formats. Just make sure that you get one that reads SD cards, and some way to copy files between your Palm TX and PC. A hot synch cable would do that well enough if the TX is able to use one, or if the TX drive is a removable card of whatever format, you could get a USB reader for it too and then just copy from one to the other.

Hope that helps....

TX has its own HD, and has also a SD card. I am on-the-go, and don't have a laptop or PC with me. The TX drive won't accept files that are not palm files. The SD card can accept these files. I am looking for a trick to copy files from a disk-on-key to a SD card, without the need for a laptop or PC. I have my TX with me, but don't know if there exists any palm software that may enable me to do the trick. Hope now I am clearer.

The TX doesn't have a hard drive; it has internal flash memory. As with all Palms since the beginning, internal memory can only accept .prc and .pdb files. You might be able to trick it by changing the file extension of any file you want to transfer to the Palm to one of those two formats; I don't know if that would work or not. It seems to me, though, that there is an app that lets you set up a "partition" of the internal memory so it behaves like a flash card; then you would need a program like PFB or SyncWizard or something like that to put files there, since the TX doesn't have "Drive Mode."

This is interesting Telyx, thank you. Do you happen to know which program can partition the palm's internal memory, or where and how should I look for it ?

You can't partition the Palm's memory it would be like partitioning your PC's RAM.

Why don't you just carry a USB jump drive instead of trying to transfer via the Palm?

I'm sure there is or was an app that can do that with NVFS Palms, to give it a "virtual internal card" like the T5 has (or like the Zodiac has). It's just been too long since I've seen anything about it.

But yes, a USB flash drive would be a cheap and easier alternative.

How about using one of those SD-cards that also works as a USB drive? If I've understood the question correctly, that would allow you to plug the same memory card first into a PC/Mac as a USB stick, then into the TX as an SD-card.

You'd need a card like the SanDisk Ultra II SD Plus USB, I believe - it's an SD-card that folds in the middle to reveal a USB connector.
