Upper division pre-reqs?

Alright so this might seem to be a dumb topic, or I don't really know...
Oh well, the thing is I'm new to all this college and university life. I did most of my schooling up to high school outside of the US, now I'm continuing with my college studies back in the US, so I'm not really sure of how it all works here. I plan to apply for a Veterinary University and I'm working on my pre requisites at a community college, I have some of them done and I'm actually not doing bad at all, but there's something I somehow hadn't noticed until now: I need 9 units of upper division Bio courses as pre-reqs too. Now, I do know that community colleges don't offer upper division courses, I would need to take it at a four year University, right? Does that mean that I actually need to go apply to another University first even if I didn't plan on getting a Bachelors??
Sorry again, if this all sounds dumb but I haven't found any answers about it (perhaps because it is commonly known? lol I must live in a bubble) My next meeting with my counselor will be in about a month so I'd like to get some insight about this sooner. Thanks in advance.

(( btw any rude comments will just be ignored lol ... and I think I posted this question twice .-. not sure because of my lagging internet, sorry lol ))
