Uploading html to a web space?

First of all, I'm terrible with computers and struggle with things that should be obvious or easy so this may sound stupid but I can't figure out how to do this. In this college course we are working with html and the school gave us a free web space to upload html. on the first assignment we could email the web page to the professor. The second one is due before tomorrow and it is to style our document we created in the first assignment and upload it to the webspace. The class website shows us how to connect to the server with dreamweaver and we are working on some kind of thin client server. Also I have emailed my prof about this and he just said that I have access to all software in the building that the class is in, but i still don't know how to get it for work outside of class. I have also tried a free trail of dreamweaver but whenever i clicked on it it just said resume download and then didn't do anything I need to know how to get the web space to allow me to upload my document outside of class. thanks and sorry if this is a dumb question but I really don't know what to do.
