Upgrading fish tanks?

I currently have a 20l heated freshwater fish tank and I want to upgrade to a 63litre tank to give my fish more space but I am worried I will have to go through the whole cycling period again. If I place the sponge and bio rings from my old filter as well as the gravel and decorations into my new tank will this help the process?

Also how many fish should I put in the tank, I currently have two male platys.
