Upgrade on Family plan

So I am on a family plan with my mom and brother and she is eligible for an upgrade. That being said, I HATE my omnia, and want to buy a new phone. Can I use her upgrade? I don't need her phone around correct? Any and all help or advice would be greatly appreciated.


-If it helps, she has a crappy old flip phone from 2002...lg something or other..lol
 
Yes, you can do this. What ends up happening is:

1. You buy the new phone, and activate it on her line
2. You re-activate her old phone on her line
3. You activate the new phone on your line

This will give you the new phone, and will extend her contract for two years. It will not touch your contract.
 
Temporarily, yes. If she tries to make a call during this process, she may be told her phone is not active. That's only a five minute window, though.

She will also probably get an email thanking her for upgrading to a new phone.
 
Thanks for the help, after some research online, i've noticed i can get a good deal on a contract extension on a handful of sites, so i dont think i have to go this route.
