I didn't see this thread anywhere yet and I just noticed the feature last night. Bell's website now gives you the ability to upgrade your existing RENTED receivers. The only downside is the typical fee for the upgrade $75 for SD receivers and over $100 for HD. Obviously they know that upgrades will become mandatory sooner or later, so maybe they will try to automate it?

In cases where client doesn't have Nimiq 2 the upgrade comes free of install charges...

All rentals needs to be profesionally installed...

If the client is getting a SD receiver he will be charged a 75$ installation charge

If he currently doesn't have HD he will get a free install

If he currently has HD or Nimiq 2 he will be charged for the installation, which is usually over 100$

There is already a thread about that, so lets not get into it. I just wanted to point out that the upgrade is automated now.

Does the upgrade require a renewal of the contract?

According to the website, it doesn't seem to. At least I can't see anything regarding that.

In the case of a rental it always comes with a 1 year contract...

To be eligible for the promo you have to suscribe to Nimiq 2 programming (like HD) for a minimum of 6 months

Im trying to move from my 9200 to 9242, the 100 dollar activation fee i can see, but I sent them a pretty harsh email about 125 for install since all i would be doing is unhooking my 9200 and hooking my 9242 up, and then calling them to activate it.

Last time i got 9200 the people they had install it for me were useless, they could not get another RG6 cable into the house and refused to drill, so they said iM out of luck. I had to go into the attic and locate an RG6 cable, then when it came time to hook the unit up, they had no idea because i had so many cords back there so I did that myself.

They said they will get back to me, but I said ill pay the 100 for activation but the 125 for install is bs.
