Then it stopped connecting to the router all together, but at least I got the updates in.

I have decent wireless that and the router is in the same room, maybe it just had a good signal here.

I had trouble downloading the updates too. Nintendo recommends either channel 1 or 11 on your router. Mine was set at 6 when I was having problems. I changed it to channel 1 and the updates sped up a lot.

It took 30 minutes+ for people because they either downloaded on launch day or their router isnt set up properly (e.g. selecting a channel that isnt used).
