Updating built-in apps

Hey guys, I always like to have the latest apps in my N93, but I noticed that the built-in apps cannot be updated.
Take for example "Catalogs" when I get the updated one from catalogs site it says that the built-in can not ge updated, is there a way around this?

Please excuse my ignorance on this wrt S60 devices.....

Don't the built in apps get updated (if necessary) with a firmware update? Or is that a different software 'load' and process?

I listen to the S60 podcast and the programmer for the S60 web browser mentioned that they had no plan to update the browser in current phone and that they usually dont update current phones built in software.

I think this is how they get you to buy new phones.. Kinda sucks.

I do remember the new 3rd edition browser is a download for the 3250, so sometimes they do update them.

I thought so too, but the office app that comes standard in the phone has an update on the quuckoffice site, I installed it and it updated the current one, so I don't see why catalogs will not update.

I think that is because they are not native apps. Those are third party apps aren't they?
